RAFFLE: Win a Week at a Hilton Head Vacation Home!

February 2008—The Land Association of Washington is holding a fundraising raffle... The prize is a week's rental of a beautiful 3-bedroom vacation home on Hilton Head Island, SC. Raffle tickets will cost $100 apiece and there will be a maximum of 50 sold. The drawing will be held on Memorial Day weekend or when all 50 tickets have sold, whichever comes first. Our Mission:

The Land Association of Washington (LAW) is a non-profit citizens group dedicated to protecting the town's unique rural character, maintaining its visual rural quality and promoting the value of forest and farmland to our way of life. As that goal is consistent with the town's Land Use Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan, our primary mission is to advocate for those legal guidelines, in three ways:

1. Monitor the enforcement and administration of the Land Use Ordinance by the town's elected and appointed officials.
2. Educate and inform citizens on the importance of rural preservation.
3. Promote economic development that benefits our town while maintaining its quiet rural character.

Learn about the challenge this extraordinary Maine town faces from a proposal by the Lane Construction Corporation to exploit its natural resources and bring smokestack industries to the Vanner Farm property.
